What most fear is the absence of knowing absolute certainty of the outcome. If you remove yourself from hindsight/future forecasting, live in the now, and be comfortable with the idea of knowing that you can not, "NOT" choose you'll dilute the emotional investment and find more of a rational and perhaps easier choice. Not making a decision is making a decision. In the end that was the choice you made, and it doesn't matter how hard it was to make it. It matters that you did. I've come to find that most of our daily decisions are between what is right and what is easy. Though I wouldn't ask myself if I've made the "right" choice; I would simply make the choice if find more rational and embrace it regardless of the outcome. To keep myself in check I play my ABC game ( don't Accuse, Don't Blame, Don't Complain) good way to remove regret and/or any self loathing... okay i'm done! late hours do this to me..... smiles :)

So I got a text from my brother about his grad school project. He needed one of his family members to answer 5 questions/statements about work:
1.) Work is... 2.) Money is... 3.) Success is... 4.) To be a good person, you have to... 5.) My advice to you about your work is... I've been real busy with work so I hesitated but he wanted me, of his siblings, because of my unique jobs to be the one to answer. By the end of it, I enjoyed doing so, but I'm real interested to hear other's opinions/answers to these questions...Feel free to reply, my answers to him are below... Questions: 1.) Work is enjoyable and fulfilling. Work should accomplish two things, allow you to spend a majority of your time doing something you're passionate about (and hopefully talented at) and bring you towards a feeling of fulfillment. For the majority of the United States the word "work" has become a term to define time spent or a task completed in exchange for money. I think how you spend your time each day ("work") should be something you would choose to do everyday even if you weren't getting paid and if no one was watching. If that task can bring you fulfillment and also financially take care of your basic needs, then you're SET! If that "work" is something you're passionate about, brings fulfillment and pays more than you need for your basic human needs, then you have a DREAM JOB. 2.) Money is something needed to take care of our basic needs as human beings - food/water, shelter, family, potentially transportation. More of it brings peace of mind for things like insurance & savings. Too much of it often brings a delusion between human "wants" and human "needs". Money does not dictate happiness, it can cause stress and impact happiness if someone's want/spending exceeds their financial ability or if their income doesn't reach their basic needs, but happiness is a choice that does not have a causal relationship with money. 3.) Success is making others around you better. The ability to help others improve, feel better/more confidence about themselves and their abilities is the characteristic of truly successful people. An average person can get others to believe in him/her, a special/successful person can get others to believe in themselves. 4.) To be a good person, you have to love others. Sacrificial love, truly putting other's needs in front of your own, is what good people share across our world. Everything and anything is possible with this type of love. 5.) My advice to you about your work is to keep every moment in perspective. Be appreciative, as there are so many people in our world who aren't allowed to do what they love each day. Be present in each moment, take joy in "each dish" as opposed to looking at the whole sink of dishes and feeling overwhelmed. Every moment is a gift, see that in your work and choose something for your work, that you would do everyday if no one was looking. ~Chad Songy |
AuthorChad and Iggy enjoy walking backwards, having awkward dialogues in elevators in the presence of strangers, laying down in local Wal-Mart aisles, looking for double rainbows, quoting Chappelle Show, not taking ecstasy and then going to raves, and avoiding eye contact. ArchivesCategories |
