POetic Practice

CoMeTrY, among many other opportunities, provides an inspirational workshop Poetic Practice that will empower your students with a full range of skills in the art of writing and performing poetry. Our goal is to not only show, but teach the students how their imagination is boundless.

Exploring the emotions of self, we open the core of one's creativity, through rigorous mental and physical exercises. Poetic Practice uses the power of words and poetry to unlock the unconscious mind, where writer's block does NOT exist! 

Learn how to utilize writing techniques to extract your expressions, emotions, questions, perceptions, and more. Students will undergo a 1hr workshop that entails the following:

• How to convert the literal text into a visual art; transforming the page to the stage
• See, Hear, Do... CoMeTrY  implements three teaching methods to develop any student into a  writer/educator/performer.
• Identifying performing techniques and habits that promote unjustified gestures. 
• Discovering and creating writing prompts that effectively trigger the imagination 

*Workshop will include an short performance/demonstration of performance poetry by Ignatius (Iggy) Mwela
